First Time Visitor?

If this is your first time to our website, or if you are looking for a place to call home, we invite you to join us for worship at Hope Lutheran Church.  Hope Lutheran is a member of the Pacifica Synod, one of  65 regional areas of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  Pacifica Synod largely covers the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, San Diego, and Imperial in California and the state of Hawai'i.  As such it is an extremely diverse region with an extremely diverse set of congregations.  There are three ELCA congregations in Riverside and occassionally share joint activites, particularly for the youth.

What You Can Expect

Childrens time Candid DSC 8773 C 300Hope Lutheran is a relatively small, pastor-sized congregation (we typically worship about 55 each Sunday).

Communion is served at every Sunday Worship and is open to all who believe Jesus Christ died for our sins.

Children are welcome in worship and are also offered a small portion of worship during which the Bible text is read and the sermon is given to particpate in an age appropriate learning time on the same texts.

Offering is recieved by passing a "plate" and visitors are invited to particpate, but not expected to. Offerings are currently recieved in either check or cash.

All worshippers are encouraged to fill out a white attendance card and include prayer concerns on the back for the pastor to pray over during the week.

The worship service at Hope is what would be JB Altar Candid DSC 8793 C 300termed "traditional" and "liturgical."  Our music largely comes from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship book and is accompanied by a musician (typically piano or organ).  Our Liturgical worship is a set "call and response" style similar to very ancient worship patterns.  With exception of the hottest months of summer, our clergy "vest" for worship.

Outside of direct ELCA involvement, Hope is also involved in a number of community service projects and connections with community service agencies in the Inland Empire.  We are connected with Lutheran Social Services of Southern California and Path of Life Ministries where we partake in a food preparation and serving on the first Saturday of each month at their community and family emergecy shelters.
